This is a Support Gem. It does not grant a bonus to your character, but to skills in sockets connected to it. Quick Tip: If you find yourself needing even more coverage later on, you'll eventually look for Greater Multiple Projectiles Support (GMP), which fires 4 extra projectiles but carries a much heavier damage penalty (usually around 26-35% less).
