PoE 3.28: Introduced Exceptional Support Gems, a new and improved version of Awakened Support Gems, which are being phased out. There are over 40 Exceptional Support Gems, which can be found in the Endgame.

Frostmage Support

Frostmage Support is an Exceptional Support Gem. Tag: Exceptional, Cold, Arcane, Support, Spell. Level: 1. Requires Level 72, 114 Int Supports spell skills that deal damage with hits and have no reservation. Cannot support arcane skills, Brand skills, Orb skills, Vaal skills, or skills used by totems, traps or mines. Cannot modify the skills of minions. Supported Skills gain Added Cold Damage equal to 22% of Reserved Maximum Mana Supported Skills gain Base Mana Cost euqal to 5% of Reserved Maximum Mana Flavour Text: Her understanding of the Atlas was not innate. The more committed she become to understanding it, the more the knowledge weighted on her. This is a Support Gem. It does not grant a bonus to your character, but to skills in sockets connected to it. Place into an item socket connected to a socket containing the Skill Gem you wish to augment. Right click to remove from a socket.

• Bosses within the Atlas can drop Astrolabes and Exceptional Support Gems

This Voidstone allows new Exceptional Support Gems to drop from many bosses across the Atlas.

The Labyrinth Gem craft

• The Labyrinth Gem craft outcome to exchange a Support Gem for its Awakened version has been removed.
• The Labyrinth Gem craft outcome to exchange a Support Gem for a random Exceptional Support Gem, instead now states you will receive a random Empower, Enlighten or Enhance Support Gem.

Bestiary

• The Beastcrafting recipe to increase the level of non-Corrupted Awakened Gem by 1 now adds 500m Experience to an Exceptional Support Gem.
• The Beastcrafting recipe to Reroll an Awakened Support Gem now sacrifices an Exceptional Support Gem for 3 high Level, high Quality Support Gems.
